Your burning pavement
radiates happinesss
in the form of the warmth
as I scale your
what seems to be
never ending face
on a hot summer day.
Although you have torn
more fabric and flesh
than most would like
to believe,
our bond is still
inseverable.
So again, I hurl myself
down your treacherous,
bulging torso,
almost inviting injury
to have its way with me.
Yet fear takes leave
as I enter my journey
toward your feet,
simply because I know
that our care for each other
is mutual.
So, as I float
down your slope,
strengthening our bond
with wheels as our medium,
you allow me to truly experience
living life in the moment.
As I come to a halt at your base,
I turn to gaze upon
the wispy remains
of my urethane wheels
that I’ve left you
and, once again,
begin my trek
up your finite,
yet infinite body.
Luke, as a fellow skateboarder let me say this: you nailed it! A wonderful piece. Especially some of those great phrases like “the wispy remains/ of my urethane wheels”. Keep writing!
