Transported, Changed and Enlightened by Literature (#1)
William Styron wrote that “A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted. You should live several lives while reading it.” Books have transported us, changed us and enlightened us. In 400 words or less describe your experience as a reader. How have you been transported, changed or enlightened by a book or piece of literature?
My Vision of Books and Reading in the Future
According to Wikipedia, in 1492 Cambridge University owned a whopping “122 books, each of which had a value equal to a farm or vinyard. The demand for these books was driven by rising literacy amongst the middle class and students in Western Europe.” And thus began our romance with the book. Fast forward to the 1990′s. The World Wide Web connected us to the internet and the digital age. WEB 2.0 has redefined how we communicate and has begun to reinvent the book. How will reading change and what will books look like in the future? In 400 words or less describe your vision for the future of the book and reading.
